On this special podcast-only segment of the "The Movie Show," Doug Wright took time to interview two women who produced a film dramatization of the lives of Jane Manning James, the black woman who lived with the Smith family, and Emma Smith, the widow of the founder of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Chantelle Squires, the producer and the director, and Tamu Smith, producer, joined Doug to talk about the dynamic and unique relationship that Jane and Emma shared.

What's the film about?
Two women. One white. The other black. Society mandated they be enemies. The gospel of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints required they be friends. On the eve of the death of Joseph Smith, his widow, Emma Smith, is on the brink of destruction. In order to stand with her friend in her darkest hour, one woman, Jane Manning, will need to hear the voice of God once more. Can she hear His voice again? And if so, can she find the strength to abide it?

"Jane and Emma" opens October 12 in select theaters around Utah.

Doug Wright is the former host of the Doug Wright Show and the current host of the Movie Show, which airs Fridays.
