Going to a movie is supposed to be a fun experience, but it can go bad in a hurry with a bad theatre. Kicking the seat, kids running around or using a cell phone happens from time to time.

Theatre owners do not always put the end to this and it can really ruin a night out. We take callers this hour and hear from horror stories attending a movie with people who are disruptive.

Jun 29, 2018

Doug Wright and Steve Salles kick off the Movie Show by reviewing the second Sicario movie and not to give any plot away but Steve says it is worth seeing this, plus the first one.

The duo also discusses some movie rumor news and what the heck is going on with the take over of Fox which includes dueling bids from Comcast and Disney. so we try to straighten that out.

Jun 23, 2018

It is that time of the show again for one lucky, or unlucky caller, to play telephone torture this segment for a chance to win prizes worth up to dollars.

Listen and play along at home to see if you could have been a big winner this week, and give it a chance next time by calling into the next Movie Show.

Doug and Steve go over what movies you can steam this week from the various outlets. That list this week is comic book and superhero movies, both animated and live action.

FX has Iron Man 3, Logan and X-Men: Days of Future Past, then HBO has Wonder Woman and there are a few animated one's as well.

As for what is available to rent the top movies to check out are Black Panther and Game night.

Doug and Steve take a detour and take a moment to review the TV series Yellowstone. The show has a special place for these two as the majority of the Kevin Costner leading movie was filmed in Utah.

The first episode is a two-hour premiere, and it will be one hour going forward. The two note that it is pretty close to an 'R' rating if you are comparing it to a movie rating.

They enjoyed the story so far but admittedly took a bit of time to get the first episode in a groove, but once the story was flushed out a bit everyone enjoyed that episode.

The box office over the past week was dominated by Pixar's latest movie in the long-awaited sequel, Incredibles 2. It made $180 million and was more than 10-fold of second place which was Ocean's 8 that earned $19 million. Third was Tag which is overachieving and in its second week brought in $14 million.

Doug Wright and Steve Salles give quick hits on the whole top 10 and how these shows have done over their run.

The Fred Rogers, AKA Mr. Rogers, documentary has been on a limited release but it is finally making its way to some Salt Lake theatres. The movie covers who Rogers took extremely heavy topics and was able to make them simple for kids to understand.

Overall, the reviews of "Won't you be my neighbor?" are overwhelmingly positive and one people should rush out and see this show. He is so sweet and innocent and was really cared about kids and wanted to teach them.

2018 has been a really good year for movies and there have been quite a few that have overperformed this year. A few that have done quite well like Tag overarching and Avengers even with the highest of expectations it is exceeding those.

The Quiet Place is another one that has done extremely well in '18.

What is coming up in the next few weeks could have a chance to continue this trend with Ant-Man vs. the Wasp, Skyscraper, The Purge and others.

Jun 22, 2018

The sequel to The Incredibles is over a decade after the original, but Incredibles 2 is making all of the money. It has the biggest opening ever for an animated movie and it is in the top 10 all-time for is opening weekend and should keep going.

It is doing extremely well at the Megaplex theatres and the number of showings in the second week is not decreasing at all.

Jun 22, 2018

Doug Wright and Steve Salles give their first impressions of Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom which is now playing. The movie is a sequel to Jurassic World back in 2015 and takes place after the events of the first movie.

The two tease the movie and hold off giving their rating at this time, so guess what the star-rating will be.

This is the only big studio movie opening up this week as others do not really want to compete with this blockbuster movie.

Jun 22, 2018

In the Movie Show preview, Doug Wright and Steve Salles who are at the Megaplex Theatres go over the big movie of last week and the opening blockbuster this weekend.

Incredibles 2 was a smashing hit making $180 million and looks to be a player for the top spot in its second week.

The challenger will be Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom is the big movie this week and is a sequel to the 2015 Jurassic World.

Plenty of exciting movie news with a few rumors mixed in as well. The first is a showing of the cult classic Ruben and Ed in Salt Lake City this weekend. The film was first released in 1991.

The big rumor is Lando Calrissian reprising his role in the untitled Star Wars Episode IX film. He was loosely connected to the prior two movies but did not appear. The actor has said he is starting to get back into shape but has not confirmed he is in the next movie.

Disney and Comcast are fighting over Fox's entertainment division and both have made huge offers well over $50 billion each. This possible merger would give so much more content for whoever wins this battle.

Jun 16, 2018

Tag the movie is a real story about a group of adult men who take one month out of the year to play this child's game. This movie stars Jack Johnson, Jon Hamm, Hannibal Buress and Jeremy Renner.

This seems odd and while this seemingly seems like a group of idiots but this movie has a ton of laughs and also some very slapstick comedies.

Time for some movie news which is Marvel heavy at CineEurope which gave some insight to Avengers 4, the new Mary Poppins and Toy Story 4.

The exact information is being kept tightly but it also means that we are getting closer to getting actual footage of Captain Marvel which is due out in March. The hype surrounding that movie is huge.

Jun 15, 2018

American Animals is a heist movie that takes place in Kentucky at Transylvania University where the idea comes up to steal one of the rarest books in the library.

Steve was fascinated by this movie which is about four idiot college kids who try to pull off the heist of the century. It was bungled so badly and also this close to being pulled off.

This is not a wide release but is one worth checking out.

Jun 15, 2018

There have been a lot of movies filmed in Utah going back to Westerns and to more recent movies like Pirates of the Caribean, Mission Impossible and plenty of others.

Doug Wright and Steve Salles tease their favorites which were filmed in the Beehive state.

Jun 8, 2018

Ocean's 8 is a movie inline with the George Clooney-led Ocean's movie series, but this one features his sister Debbie Ocean. She is cut from the same cloth as her brother.

She gets a group together to attempt a heist in which she and her group of friends rob a gala that is at the Met.

Both Doug Wright and Steve Salles sort of enjoyed the movie but they were wanting a bit more personality and fun from the star, Sandra Bullock.

First Reformed is an R-rated movie about the pastor of a small church in a small town in upstate New York. He spirals out of control after a soul-shaking encounter with an unstable environmental activist and his pregnant wife.

Steve Salles gives his review after seeing this movie and gave it a solid grade but vaguely mentions how the ending could be left for interpretation as the director is not giving a definitive answer to the closure of this flick.
